The BSU offers Study Skills courses to learners on a quarterly basis throughout the year. We have designed a series of interactive sessions that cover the following important themes:
- Getting organised, fostering motivation, and preparing to study
- Learning to study the way your brain is wired
- Specific, applicable study techniques
- How to successfully negotiate an exam paper
We have elected to group the learners into a Junior group (Grades 8 and 9) and a Senior group (Grades 10 to 12). We have found that the learners are more comfortable to ask questions, take part in discussions, and practice their new skills in smaller, age-equivalent groups. As such, we aim to keep the groups under 10 members. Feedback from the courses reflect that learners feel better equipped to prepare for their exams, which makes them feel more confident to tackle them head on.
